The marine ecosystem refers to the aquatic environments that exist in the seas and oceans which cover approximately 71% of the Earth's surface. The marine ecosystem is composed of a wide variety of life forms and their complex interactions with one another play a crucial role in the Earth's biosphere. There are many life forms that are still not well known. Here are a few examples that I would like to highlight.
There are indeed many unique and fascinating marine creatures that are still largely unknown to the public, but the first one to introduce is Deepstaria enigmatica. It's a rare jellyfish found in the deep sea, known for its extremely thin and transparent body, making it look like a ghost.
The next creature to introduce is Lampocteis cruentiventer. Known as the 'bloody-belly comb jelly,' it has a body that is blood-red in color. It has the ability to emit light and resides in the deep sea.
Another very unusual organism is called Eulora intestinata. Known as the 'gut worm,' this creature has a very long and thin body, resembling intestines. It inhabits the deep-sea floor and is a very rare and unique species
Lastly, a marine creature to briefly introduce is Siphonostoma violetsea. This organism has a small, tubular body and emits violet light. It typically inhabits areas around underwater seagrass beds.
A common feature among the creatures introduced so far is that they mostly reside in the deep sea, making them difficult to study and thus ensuring that they remain relatively unknown to the public; however, their unique biological characteristics and habitats demonstrate the diversity and complexity of marine ecosystems. As we continue to discover and study new marine organisms, we can gain a deeper understanding of the unique and mysterious marine ecosystem.
