The Hyomunhwapury Festival in Daejeon concluded on October 13th. This festival, centered around the theme of family

lineage, takes place in the Root Park, where participants can connect with their ancestral spirit while seeking their roots and

experiencing our traditional values of filial piety. The Root Park, which hosts the festival, is a family-friendly venue that opened

on November 1, 1997, designed to help individuals discover their heritage based on the principle of filial duty.

This educational site, renowned for its beautiful natural scenery in the heart of the city, serves as a place for individuals

to explore their roots. It features 244 sculptures representing different family names, with ancestral origins detailed

on the front and descriptions of the artwork on the back. The park also houses the Korean Genealogy Museum,

which exhibits ancestral records donated by clans from across the country, offering a space to experience the spirit of one's

ancestors while also serving as a venue for clan gatherings and connections.

During the festival, I encourage visitors to explore "Daejeon Jung-gu, a City Connected by Filial Piety" and immerse themselves

in our nation's cherished spirit of filial piety through various festival programs. Additionally, I hope they take the opportunity

to visit the Root Park and the Genealogy Museum to seek out their own roots. The Hyomunhwapury Festival is an intergenerational

festival where grandparents, grandmothers, mothers, fathers, and children can all participate and mingle, allowing them

to feel the importance of family and filial piety, as well as an opportunity for children and young people who are increasingly

estranged from traditional culture to learn about the importance of traditional culture and the wisdom of their ancestors.

Many students from Pai Chai University participated in the festival as volunteers and became part of the festival. According

to the volunteers, there was a lot of laughter throughout the three days of the festival, and it was great to see families enjoying

themselves. The festival was free and open to the public, so people could take a stroll and join in the festivities. The festival was

streamed for free on YouTube, so people could enjoy the festival even if they were sick or out of town.

I would like to end this article by saying that I am happy that the beautiful festival in Daejeon lights up the hearts and delivers

laughter, and I hope that the festival will continue for a long time without interruption.
